地方都市の人口減少と日本全体の高齢化によって、適切に管理されていない空き家の問題が深刻化しています。多可町には、日本古来の伝統技法を使った古民家が数多く残されていますが、ひとたび人が管理をしない空き家になってしまうと急激に老朽化し、そのまま放置しておくと瓦の崩落や倒壊などの危険性がある危険空き家になってしまいます。しかし、これらの古民家は多可町ののどかな風景を形成する重要な建物であるだけでなく、かつてはその中で人々が暮らし、多くの思い出や歴史が詰まった大切な資産でもあるのです。古材を使用したこうした古民家は、一度取り壊してしまうと二度と同じものは復元することができません。
私たち「一般社団法人 紡」は、こうした大切な資産を有効に活用するために、古民家再生の専門家とボランティアの力を借りて居住可能な状態に修復し、移住を希望する方や店舗・事務所の経営を考えておられる方に使用して頂きたいと考えています。こうした取り組みは、単にその物件が使用可能な状態に蘇るだけでなく、古民家に対する価値観の転換を図るとともに、町外のボランティアやイベント参加者が集まることによって、多可町という素晴らしい景観と歴史を持った町の魅力を知って頂く切っ掛けにもなると考えています。
皆さまのご協力により、本来ならば壊されるはずだった家屋に再びあかりが灯ることによって、空き家が目立つようになっていた地域に再び活力が取り戻されることを願っています。
【Purpose】
Due to the depopulation of rural towns and the overall aging of the population in Japan as a whole, the problem of empty houses which are not being properly maintained is becoming increasingly severe. Many houses are nearly beyond repair due to neglect and a failure to properly maintain them once people no longer are living in them. Some of these old homes are crumbling, which can be dangerous if roof tiles and other sections fall onto roads or neighboring houses. However, these traditional homes have long helped form the beautiful landscape of Taka-cho. People used to live in them, and as such, these homes have much history and many memories built into them. They are our local treasures. These homes also used old building materials and once they are destroyed, it will be impossible to rebuild or replicate them.
Our group, General Incorporated Association TSUMUGI, wishes to make these homes, which we help to reutilize with the assistance of restoration specialists and volunteers, livable again to be used by people wishing to relocate to Taka-cho to live or work, either as homes, offices, or restaurants, stores, or cafes. Our activities are meant not only to help restore these structures, but also through this work, we hope that the volunteers from in and out of the town will gain a greater appreciation for traditional homes, culture, and history, as well as the beauty of Taka-cho and the attraction of its history.
With everyone’s cooperation, we hope that the community, which has see an increase in the number of empty buildings, will be able to restore its vitality by reutilizing these traditional homes.
